Brighton and Hove Counselling

Couples counselling and relationship therapy in Brighton & Hove

I offer relationship counselling for couples in the Brighton & Hove area, in a calm, supportive and safe space where you can both talk openly without judgement or pressure.

My approach is warm, grounded and collaborative, and I work with couples experiencing a range of relationship difficulties, including communication problems, recurring conflict, emotional distance, trust issues, and uncertainty about the future of the relationship.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I offer face-to-face appointments in a safe, private and comfortable therapy room in Hove and Brighton.

Speak in Confidence

Couples counselling provides a safe and contained environment where you can speak in confidence to a professional therapist in a non-judgemental space where you will both have the opportunity to be heard and understood.

Together we will explore what is happening in your relationship, including patterns of communication, areas of conflict, and any underlying emotional needs that may not be being fully expressed and met.

Sessions will move at a pace that feels manageable for both of you, and we will work together to decide what feels most helpful to focus on.

How can couples counselling help us?

Couples counselling can help when your relationship feels stuck, strained, or disconnected, and you are finding it difficult to resolve things on your own.

My role is to offer a warm, empathic and honest setting where you can talk openly about what is happening in your relationship, feel heard without judgement, and begin to better understand each other’s needs and experiences.

In our sessions, both partners are given space to speak and feel heard. I will help guide the conversation so that it remains balanced, respectful and constructive, even if things feel difficult or emotional at times.

How do we start?

It’s completely okay if you’re unsure whether couples therapy is right for you, or if you don’t know where to begin.

There is no pressure to have the “right” words or to present your relationship in a certain way. The focus is on understanding what is happening between you, and deciding together how you can move forward as a couple to a more stable, loving and connected relationship.

As a first step please click here to send me a message so that we can arrange a free, no obligation 20-minute telephone consultation where we can explore what’s bringing you to therapy and whether i sound like I might be the right fit for you.

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions will I need?

This depends entirely on what you want and need. In our first session together we can find out more about what's going on for you and what your expectations and goals are. Some clients want and need longer term therapy, and other clients need only 6-12 sessions. Either way you are in control and there is no obligation to stay longer than you want to.

Where would the therapy take place

We would meet each week at a safe and confidential therapy room in Hove.

What happens if I want to cancel?

Consistency and momentum are very important in therapy so it's important that we meet each week except for planned holidays and sickness. However if you need to cancel individual sessions outside of that then you can do so with 48 hours notice. If at any time you would like to stop therapy completely then you can do so with a minimum of one weeks notice, but it's a good idea to avoid stopping therapy suddenly or abruptly if possible so that we can work towards a planned ending.
